Saulsbrook Victor (Source Of Pride) won his second consecutive $34,000 Preferred on the Saturday (Jan. 7) card at Woodbine Mohawk Park in a tightly-grouped finish versus strong harness racing opponents.
The gelding sparred between Woodmere Stealdeal (Jonathan Drury) and Sintra (Anthony MacDonald) to the quarter, putting the former behind him just as they hit that marker in :26.1. Sintra pushed clear shortly after, only for Saulsbrook Victor to re-emerge and hustle to the front before finishing the first half in :54.4.
Austin Sorrie dialed back the tempo aboard Saulsbrook Victor to three-quarters in 1:23.4 and turned for home on top. He spearheaded the group down the stretch and held off all of his gaining rivals to score in 1:51.
So Much More (James MacDonald) closed best to be second by a length. Sometime Somewhere (Louis-Philippe Roy) and Points North (Doug McNair) dead-heated for show. The entire field was separated by two-and-three-quarter lengths at the finish.
