Saulsbrook Victor (Source Of Pride) ended a 16-race winless spell with a 1:52.4 harness racing romp through the dense fog at Georgian Downs on Wednesday (Jul. 5).

Saulsbrook Victor winning in the Snowshoe Series

He settled in fourth for driver and owner Brett MacDonald in a :28 first quarter and got moving as Pirate Hanover (Samuel Fillion) flushed the four-year-old out just past the half in :57.1. Saulsbrook Victor headed the charge first-over and hooked up with leader Odds on Carmel (Anthony Haughan) through the three-quarter-mile station in 1:25.

Odds On Carmel leveraged the turn to enter the stretch in front, but Saulsbrook Victor was unstoppable on the day and paced three-and-three-quarter lengths clear for the win.

Odds On Carmel was in time to hold off P L Oliver (Jason Ryan) for second. The winner returned $4.30.

SAULSBROOK VICTOR REPLAY

Saulsbrook Victor’s win improved his career record to six-for-27 with $97,630 in earnings. It came in his first start outside of Woodbine Mohawk Park since his third lifetime outing on Oct. 14, 2021. His other win in 19 tries this year came in the Snowshoe Series first leg at that track. Ronald MacDonald trains the four-year-old.

Also on the card, Thundering Jim (Woodstock) won his second straight for Paul Thomas Court, who returned to training this year after a nine-year absence. Court made seven starts in 2008, 28 in 2013, and seven more this year so far for seven wins in 42 lifetime tries. He currently campaigns Nates Bucky (Armbro Deuce) and Thundering Jim at Georgian Downs.

Racing at Georgian Downs resumes on Saturday, Jul. 9 at 7:15 p.m. EDT.
