Arrakis (Federal Flex) won the Tuesday (Apr. 4) Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District for the second straight week, this time doing the heavy lifting en route to his harness racing victory.
Tyler Moore fired the gelding three-wide into the first turn with Lilys Lass (Jeff Hunt) claiming the first lead. Arrakis, off at 1/5, attained clear control at the quarter in :28.4, and the field of five maintained single-file forma
tion to the half in :59.1.
Moore commanded more speed from Arrakis in the third panel, and he kept his rivals in line and slightly string out to three-quarters in 1:28.3. He and pocket-sitter Lilys Lass inched away from the rest as they turned for home, and Arrakis gave the challenger no hope as he trotted strongly to the line to stop the clock in 1:58.2.
Lilys Lass was a clear second. Run Like Hill (Samuel Fillion) finished third.
