Harness racing trainer Scott McNiven reached eight digits in career earnings with a third-place finish with Lolas Sunshine (Sunshine Beach) on Friday (Nov. 8) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The 65-year-old conditioner entered the night needing less than $1,000 for the milestone, and Lolas Sunshine’s show finish got him over the line. McNiven, a trainer for more than three decades, has taken 1,210 career wins in 9,003 starts. He is a mainstay at the top of the trainers’ standings in London and is tied for third this season. He and his wife Kim are recipients of the Walltyme Stable Lifetime Achievement Award.
Scott McNiven has trained 35 winners this season and is on track for his highest total since 2013.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District will host its next card on Monday, Nov. 11.
