Sea Laird (Custard The Dragon) returned to The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Monday (Feb. 20) following two unsuccessful harness racing starts at Woodbine Mohawk Park and won the Preferred Pace the hard way.
The gelding grinded first-up from the half for Tyler Borth and finally put away leader Lovemyrockinbird (Colin Kelly) as they turned for home. Sea Laird then fended off Y S Delight (Paul Mackenzie) down the stretch to take the Preferred in 1:56.1. Y S Delight missed by a length. Ideal Perception (Anthony Haughan) was third.
SEA LAIRD REPLAY
Sea Laird, trained by Terry Gallant for Stacy Smith Robinson of South Mountain, is now 25-for-124 lifetime with $208,045 in earnings. The seven-year-old has won each of his past three starts at the London Preferred level with victories on Dec. 20 and Jan. 20.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District is set to continue racing on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 5:50 p.m. EST.
