Sea Laird (Custard The Dragon) proved too good again in the top harness racing class of The Raceway at the Western Fair District, returning to the track for the first time since April to win the Preferred Handicap Pace on Monday (Apr. 17).
He overcame post seven with ease, hustling to the front by midway through the first turn for Tyler Borth. He banged out a :27.4 first panel over the damp surface and caught a breather to the half in :58.
Noneyabizzness (Travis Henry) made a first-over bid that fizzled out before three-quarters in 1:26.3. Sportsline (Scott Wray) had no better luck third-over, and pocket-sitter Hollys Treasure (Garrett Rooney) made no impact as Sea Laird cruised home to a 1:56.1 victory.
Yacht Seelster (Tyler Moore) made headway late and finished a length-and-three-quarters back in second. Hollys Treasure took the show spot.
SEA LAIRD REPLAY
The win was Sea Lairdās 26th lifetime and swelled his career earnings to $217,715. The seven-year-old has made 128 career starts. He has won all five of his appearances at the Preferred level in London since moving to Ontario in December. Terry Gallant trains the gelding for Stacey Smith Robinson of South Mountain.
The upcoming Tuesday (Apr. 18) program at The Raceway at the Western Fair District features a Preferred Trot.
