Sea Laird (Custard The Dragon) notched his ninth harness racing win of the season in a two-and-three-quarter length victory at The Raceway at The Western Fair District on Tuesday (Dec. 20).
The six-year-oldās first-quarter hustle to the lead was the decisive move; after reaching that mark in :28.1, he controlled the speed and was never headed again. The half went in :57.1, and pocket-sitter Harpers Hat Trick (Travis Henry) made his move entering the final quarter. Sea Laird rebuffed the challenger down the stretch and opened up for Paul Mackenzie to win in 1:55. Harpers Hat Trick held second. Bettors Dream (Dan Clements) was third.
SEA LAIRD REPLAY
Sea Laird won his first Preferred-level race on Oct. 16 at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and Stacey Robinson bought the gelding nine days later. Terry Gallant now trains the horse for her. Sea Laird is 22-for-118 and has earned $185,695.
The next card at The Raceway at The Western Fair District is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 23 with a 4:50 p.m. EST first post.
