Veteran gelding Senior K (Bettors Delight) pulled out a top-shelf harness racing effort on Monday (Oct. 10) at Northside Downs to capture the second Celtic Financial Series elimination.
The nine-year-old raced out to a quick lead from post three and rebuffed a fleeting challenge from Dellas Playboy (Ardon Mofford) approaching the quarter in :29.2. Dellas Playboy popped out again nearing the half in :59.3 and pursued the challenge through to three-quarters in 1:30.1.
Senior K produced speed when asked by Richie Baryluk as the field spun for home and split away to score by four lengths in 2:00.2.
Dellas Playboy held second over Howmac Impeccable (Kevin Bailey).
SENIOR K REPLAY
Senior K has now won 28 of his 146 outings and has earned $215,444. He was an Ontario journeyman before moving to Nova Scotia in late 2021. Baryluk trains the gelding for Danny Ferguson of Sydney (NS).
Elm Grove Ocean (Stonebridge Terror, John Beaton) rallied from last to first in the final eighth of a mile in the first elimination. She caught The Ironman (Greg Sparling) at the line. Articulate Barb (Adam Lynk) was third.
ELM GROVE OCEAN REPLAY
Elm Grove Ocean has pulled in $39,712 and won 16 times in 64 lifetime tries for Done For The Day Stable of New Waterford. Angus Gillis trains the five-year-old mare.
The top three finishers from each elimination made the final that will be held on Oct. 15 at Northside Downs. That race headlines the nine-race program that will start at 1:00 p.m. ADT.
