SUMMERSIDE, PE – It was all harness racing driver David Dowling, all day on the Sunday afternoon program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The reinsman scored seven wins on the 12-dash card to catapult him to top spot in the driver’s standings with 25 seasonal victories. Dowling's first four scores were with Rollwithitannie (2:01.3) from the Jeff Holmes stable, Khitam Image (1:59.3) for Marvyn Webster, Rash B Havior (1:58.2) for Mike Peters and Creepin (1:57.4) from the Jonah Moase stable. Love In Paradise (2:00.2) was placed first in race 9 for Dowling and trainer Sifroi Melanson, then Winter Blast (1:57.4) rallied to win in race 10 for conditioner Jennifer Doyle. Vegas Rich (1:58.3) was a victor in race 12 for trainer Jansen Sweet to complete the seven-win performance by Dowling.
Heart And Soul scored a mild upset in the race 11 $2,700 feature with Brodie MacPhee at the lines for trainer George Riley and owner Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside. Time of the mile was 1:56 with Mantario (Driven by Dowling) second and Soccer Hanover (Ken Murphy) third.
Dylans Future captured the Bob MacInnis memorial in 202.2 for driver Norris Rogers and owner-trainer Frank Banks, Summerside, PE. The winning groom was Darla MacEachern. All grooms were recognized on the program as part of National Caretakers Appreciation Day an initiative from Standardbred Canada. Red Shores was proud to support along with PCHC and PEISHOA.
