Share The Moment blew away conditioned harness racing fillies and mares by more than 10 lengths in The Raceway at Western Fair‘s Thursday, Apr. 1 feature pace.
Driver Travis Cullen acted accordingly with his mount’s superiority, sending her to the front in a :30.2 first quarter. He laid down an identical second panel, reaching the half in 1:00.4.
The field appeared to reel in the 1/9 favourite slightly going towards three-quarters in 1:30.2, but Share The Moment kicked away at that point. The filly turned on the jets and widened the gap throughout the final quarter, winning by ten and three quarter lengths in 1:59.2. Cherie Amour (Tyler Moore) was second, and Littlebearcat (Michael Horner) circled up for show.
SHARE THE MOMENT REPLAY
Share The Moment is now five-for-13 lifetime with earnings of more than $20,000. She’s a three-year-old Control The Moment filly owned and bred by Cullen. Jodie Cullen trains. The horse paid $2.20 to win.
Also on the card, trainer Darren Rayner took his first win of 2021 in the opener as Hard Rock (Bruce Richardson) circled the field in 2:00.3. Caleb Stephens did the same in the seventh race with Chuck Heaton Love, who went wire-to-wire in 2:01.3 at the hands of Paul MacKenzie. Jason Sherman won his first of the year in the finale as his mare, Rollwithitannie, brushed and crushed in 2:06.1 with Scott Coulter in the bike.
Steelmeatreasure, a three-year-old State Treasurer filly, broke her maiden on 13 tries in the fourth race in 2:00. Victory Puddy co-owns and trains for partners Lloyd Stone of Portland (ON), Michael Horwood of Tecumseh, and 10462217 Canada Inc of Gloucester. Lorne House handled the filly.
The Raceway at Western Fair’s next card will be on Friday, Apr. 2, which will consist of 10 races beginning at 5:50 p.m. EDT. It will be the Elora, Ontario track’s final program for at least four weeks as the province moves into a lockdown on Apr. 3.
