Shark Week (Vertical Horizon) circled the Century Downs Preferred harness racing field on Saturday (Apr. 1) and strode away to score by open lengths in his fastest time of the season.
Michael Hennessy took Shark Week, who led at the quarter in nine of his last 10 starts, straight to the back from post six and trailed to the quarter in :28.1. The gelding began his march going into the second turn and flew forward to be third by the half in :57.
His charge rolled right up to the leader, and he dispatched Icy Blue Scooter (Nathan Sobey) after a short battle. Shark Week cleared to command at three-quarters in 1:24.3. He motored on at full throttle and extended his margin down the lane to complete the victory in 1:53.2.
He was five-and-a-quarter lengths best over Samba Beat (Phil Giesbrecht).Ā Armycaptin Hanover (Kelly Hoerdt) finished third.
