Alberta Standardbred Horse Association honoured the top performers from the 2023 harness racing season during the Award Night on Saturday (Mar. 9).
There was no surprise that Shark Week (Vertical Horizon) took home Horse of the Year. The now six-year-old gelding won 20 times and earned $141,990 in 2023 last here. He also achieved the fastest mile in western Canada history, 1:49.2. Hs trainer, Rodney Hennessy co-owns him with Lorne Duffield.
