Century Downs hosted a nine-race card that featured the return of Shark Week (Vertical Horizon) to the oval.
Shark Week had four weeks of rest heading into the Preferred pace. He was assigned post position seven, but that did not bother the five-year-old pacer. He got to the front as quickly as possible and never gave up. Shark Week posted a modest mile time of 1:52.2 which is 3 seconds slower than his lifetime mark of 1:49.2. Which, of course, is not only the track record at Century Downs but also the fastest mile in western Canada. This was the first of two wins for Mike Hennessy in the bike during the card, and Rodney Hennessy only scored one win as a trainer.
SHARK WEEK REPLAY
Amped Up Annie (Vertical Horizon) broke her maiden with a 1:56.2-mile time to kick off the card. It took the three-year-old filly 17 attempts to get the job done for Nathan Sobey. She took the lead from her inside rail position at the word go and never gave it up. Nathan Sobey could only earn the win on the night in the bike.
AMPED UP ANNIE REPLAY
