Sicario returned to top form on Wednesday as the harness racing gelding narrowly missed his career best time in a wire-to-wire Preferred 2&3 Trot score at Grand River Raceway.
The son of Holiday Road moved up the pylons from the inside post and secured an early lead for driver Austin Sorrie. He enjoyed a pressure-free trip through the first quarter mile and :27.4 and half in :56.4. Wild And Crazy Guy (Scott Coulter) advanced first-up through the third quarter, but Sicario kept him behind with an acceleration to three-quarters in 1:25.2.
With foes not gaining, Sorrieās job was finished halfway down the stretch. He ceased efforts at that point and allowed Sicario to cruise to the line a winner in 1:55.2.
Tymal Houdini (Travis Henry) rode the pocket to a second-place finish, beating Wild And Crazy Guy in a photo.
SICARIO REPLAY
Sicarioās clocking was a fifth of a second off his lifetime peak, a 1:55.1 mile that he produced on Jul. 4. The six-year-old gelding is now 25-for-107 lifetime with $240,973 in career earnings. Richard Moreau trains him for Pamela and John Hehn of Walkerton.
The next card at Grand River Raceway is set for Friday, Aug. 20. The 10-race program will begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
