Jgs Pal (Tactical Landing) passed six harness racing rivals in the final quarter to make it six victories in his past eight starts with a lifetime-best effort in the Grand River Raceway feature on Wednesday (Sep. 25).

The gelding took back early for Samuel Fillion, grabbing a seat seventh just past the quarter in :27. Samuel Fillion brought him back out just before the half in :56.2, and he got double cover to three-quarters in 1:25. Jgs Pal, still sixth on the final turn, went four-wide and blasted past all horses in front of him to capture the feature in 1:56.1. The first-over Jay Richard Nyce (Brett MacDonald) finished second, holding off Star Hairdresser (Austin Sorrie).

JGS PAL REPLAY

Jgs Pal has won seven of 18 career starts and has banked $40,436. He is six-for-12 this year and sliced a fifth of a second off his lifetime mark with Wednesday’s win. Bryan Lawrence trains the three-year-old and shares ownership with Stuart Lawrence of Mt. Forest and Smurk Inc. of Elmira.

Racing continues at Grand River Raceway on Friday, Sep. 27 at 6:30 p.m. with a card featuring four Prospect Series finals.
