Horse Racing New Brunswick will kick-off a new era of harness racing at Connell Park in picturesque Woodstock, N.B on Saturday, June 3rd.
With the closing of Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, the harness racing spotlight will shine brightly on Woodstock for ten race dates this season.
This Saturdayās marquee event will be the Dr. Ted and Dawn Bremner stakes for three-year-old pacers. Post time for the six-dash program will commence at 1:00 P.M.
There will be two divisions of the Bremner stake with each carrying a purse of $ 10,700. Saturdayās matinee card will also feature last yearās Horse of the Year at Truro, American Risk who will have New Brunswick driver Mark Haig in the race bike. Owned by the Risky Bizz partnership, he will leave from post-four in the top event for overnight horses.
American Risk has been second in his first two starts this season. He will battle Emperor, Windsong Napoleon, Proudofyatoday, and Moonwriter.
Looking at the first division of the Bremner stake, it appears that there are two, maybe three, who are definitive win threats. Gosistersoulsister comes off a winning effort in 1:58.1 for trainer Jamie Smith. Singing Ramona has been consistent this year with Woodmere Jade, another one to watch in this one.
In the second division, Starship Art looks to be the standout after an impressive win in his last outing. He has two wins and a second in three starts this year and an impressive win in 1:58.4.
Horse Racing New Brunswick will have a total of ten race days at Connell Park, and will race on the following dates:
June 3rd, 17th, 30th
July 7th, 28th
August 2nd, 4th
September 2nd, 16th, and the 24th
Horse Racing New Brunswick would like to thank its sponsors, volunteers, and horsemen and women for supporting the new location at Woodstock and are extremely excited to bring more thrilling racing to the community of Woodstock.
