It took a little work, but once So Much More was on top, there was no one that could beat her, now for the second straight week in the $32,000 Fillies And Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park Friday.
With Jody Jamieson in the bike for the first time in quite a while, So Much More was not in the early hunt. The second race feature got underway with Better Be Donna N (Jonathan Drury) getting to the lead only to be passed by at the opening quarter mile in :27.2 by Swift Ally and driver Doug McNair.
Their lead was not to last for long as Jamieson had So Much More on the move, and they took command at the half mile marker in :56.1.
There was no rest for the weary as So Much More was then challenged first-over by Better Be Donna N, but by the three-quarters in 1:24, Better B Donna N was losing ground as So Much More came on and held on in the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:52.1. Lauras Love (Bob McClure) closed well to be second with Swift Ally third.
SO MUCH MORE REPLAY
It was the second straight win for So Much More, a five-year-old mare by Big Jim, who is trained by Don Beatson, who co-owns with Kenneth Beatson and Cole England. She paid $2.60 to win as the betting favorite.
