SUMMERSIDE, PE – Soccer Hanover found himself in unfamiliar territory as he went to front and never looked back in the Friday evening harness racing feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Corey MacPherson sent the Leith Waite trained Soccer Hanover to the lead from the start in the $2,950 preferred pace and repelled post time favourite Moonwriter (driven by David Dowling), forcing him into the two-hole. Soccer Hanover continued his forward motion through rated splits of 29, 58.4 and 1:28 before unloading a 28.2 closing panel to win by over a length in 1:56.2. Moonwriter was second with Pictonian Storm (Marc Campbell) third in the scratched down field of four. Trainer Waite co-owns the winning horse with Les and Spencer Waite of Charlottetown.
