Sometime Somewhere (Somebeachsomewhere) was in the right place at the right time and won in the $23,000 harness racing feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Mar. 9).
Even though Sometime Somewhere drew the rail, he was quickly surrounded by outside competitors. He found refuge in fifth place early as Code Cracker (Travis Cullen) and Jabberwocky (Phil Hudon) battled for the front end. Jabberwocky was successful and opened the race with a 26.0 opening quarter.
The betting favourtite, Momas Son Byrne (Jonathan Drury) took the lead at the half and posted a fraction of 54.2. Right around the same time, Sometime Somewhere jumped from his spot and started picking everyone off one by one. He took the lead by the three-quarter mark and paced to a three-length victory. The seven-year-old gelding won in 1:51.3 which just missed out matching his season best.
It was a 6-1 betting upset. The Longest Yard (Jody Jamieson) at 12-1 finished second while Cold Creek Queso (Sylvain Fillion) rallied for third.
SOMETIME SOMEWHERE REPLAY
Richard Moreau trains the gelding, and this was the third of five driving wins on the night for James Macdonald.
Racing resumes at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Mar. 11) at 7:10 p.m. EST.
