The leaders of the Quebec Jockey Club (QJC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Sophie Mongeon to its Board of Directors. Ms Mongeon’s legal experience as well as her association with the Quebec harness racing industry will be an undeniable asset to the Board of Directors.
Mongeon became known to the general public of horse racing in Quebec during this past summer as a presenter of race broadcasts on 91.9 FM Sports Radio. Her interest in the racing industry is evident. In recent years, the QJC has called on her many times for legal questions during which her knowledge of both the racing and legal communities has been demonstrated.
In short, Ms Mongeon, whose father was a respected veterinarian in the equine world and whose mother is the illustrious sister of the Filion siblings who gave the industry no less than eight drivers, is clearly a natural in the racing world.
Today as the owner of Desroches Mongeon Avocats, Mongeon has made a specialty of representing victims and injured parties with organizations, employers and private companies. A citizen’s rights activist. As an indication, for a third year in a row (2021-2022-2023) her peers voted for her, recognizing her as “Best Lawyers” in the representation of injured workers. It’s quite an honour.
In short, there is no doubt that the addition of Ms Sophie Mongeon to the CJQ Board is an asset to promote our industry on all social media platforms given her experience in sports media and her influence on the internet.
Her legal analysis of the challenges facing the horse racing industry as well as her modern vision will bring a breath of fresh air to the QJC Board. An official welcome to the first woman in the history of the QJC Board of Directors.
