Outlaw C My Shadow (Shadow Play) seems to be already hurtling into Spring as the gelding came within a second of his career best as he notched his fourth straight harness racing Open Pace win on Friday (Feb. 10) at Fraser Downs.
He quickly claimed the lead while shedding the challenge of Joe Dimagio and blitzed the opening panel in :26.1. The half went in :55.4, and the field came to three-quarters in 1:23.2 with only two in striking distance of the leader. They caused no problems for Outlaw C My Shadow, who put them away under sparing Brandon Campbell urging to score in 1:51.3. Joe Dimagio (Dave Hudon) held on for second over Armycaptin Hanover (Kelly Hoerdt).
OUTLAW C MY SHADOW REPLAY
Outlaw C My Shadow has won 14 of his 84 career tries and has earned $145,322 for Outlaw West Stable of Falun. His four-race win streak began in his last two starts of 2022; the gelding then added to it with his seasonal debut on Feb. 3, which went in 1:54.3. The Friday win was therefore two-and-two-fifth seconds quicker. Constance Kolthammer conditions the six-year-old.
Campbell, in addition to the feature win, took four more on the night. He steered Sam The Cat (Sportswriter, 1:56.2), Radar Enforced (Sportswriter, 1:54), Major Winker (Wink N Atcha, 1:54.2), and Ponggo (Mystician, 1:55.3) to victory.
Fraser Downs will continue action on Thursday, Feb. 16.
