Stash The Cookies back with victory

Stash The Cookies (Sunfire Blue Chip) returned to the races after seven weeks away and regained her winning harness racing form with another victory in the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Century Downs.

Outlaw Sharktastic (Mike Hennessy) led throughout the first half in :27.3 and :56.3 panels with Stash The Cookies sitting the pocket. Brandon Campbell pulled the mare out along the backstretch, and she swiftly overwhelmed her opponent on the turn. Stash The Cookies pulled away coming down the stretch and glided home to a two-and-a-half-length victory in 1:52.2. If Only Id Known (Phil Giesbrecht) also passed Outlaw Sharktastic to take second.

STASH THE COOKIES REPLAY

Stash The Cookies started the season with three wins from four starts in the top class at Century Downs and was sent for a layoff after her loss on Jun. 28. John Chappell trains the mare for Derek Gilbert of Brandon. The eight-year-old has collected 34 lifetime wins and $349,734 in earnings though 106 career outings.

Campbell won five races driving on the 11-race card and three training.

Racing will continue at Century Downs on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 12:45 p.m. MDT. The card will feature two eliminations for both the Century Casinos Pace and ASHA Filly Pace.
