Stonebridge Comedy (Muscle Mass) put his harness racing rivals on blast with a dominant victory in the first leg of event C of the Ontario-sired Autumn Series on Friday (Oct. 6) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
In his second career win, the gelding fired out to a big lead in the first-quarter, reaching that station up seven-and-a-half lengths in :29.1. Paul Mackenzie reined the gelding in to the half in 1:01.3, but Stonebridge Comedy kicked away again to three-quarters in 1:31.1. He was up by eight lengths turning for home, and reached the line to finish off a six-and-a-quarter-length romp in 2:01.4. Irish Dreamer (Jason Ryan) was second, followed by Teasin (Dean Wall).

Stonebridge Comedy, trained by Paul Megens, is two-for-16 and has now earned $15,686. The sophomore races for Saltwater Stable of Moffat.
My Buddy Sam (Archangel) took the second division in a more competitive contest. The gelding sat the pocket for Garrett Rooney, passed pacesetter Sollwitt (Pat Hudon) up the pylons and out-finished the game Livingitlarge (Lorne House) to win in 2:03.2. Livingitlarge beat out Sollwitt for place.
MY BUDDY SAM REPLAY
My Buddy Sam broke in his two prior starts but had not missed the board in his prior five. The gelding, from the barn of Jennifer Pinkerton, has won three of his eight starts and has earned $11,104. Pinkerton owns him with Patricia Bailey of St. Marys.
Event C, the division for Ontario-sired two- and three-year-old trotting males, continues at the same track on Friday, Oct. 13.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District will race next on Monday, Oct. 9. The 10-race card will feature the first leg of the Autumn Series Event D for pacing fillies.
