Style For A Mile struts her stuff

Style For A Mile (Captaintreacherous) wired the harness racing field to capture the $32,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred-2 at a snowy Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (Mar. 22).

The Doug McNair-driven mare had the lead through :27, :56.4, and 1:27.1 splits. Ms Quick Sand (Austin Sorrie) was parked the mile and pushed up through the middle half but couldn’t nip the leader. Style For A Mile came down the stretch chased by pocket-sitter Western Wish (Tyler Jones) and fended off the challenger by a half-length to complete the victory in 1:54.2. Wildcat Star (Trevor Henry) came off cover to take third.

STYLE FOR A MILE REPLAY

Style For A Mile upped her lifetime tally to 15 wins with the performance. The mare, owned by Brad Grant of Milton and Odds On Racing of Boca Raton, has now compiled $325,510 in earnings from 60 career starts. Richard Moreau trains the five-year-old.

A $36,000 Preferred Pace, in which Taurasi will aim for seven straight, will headline the next card at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Mar. 23. First post is listed as 7:10 p.m. EDT.
