CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Under the command of harness racing driver Gilles Barrieau, Sugar Bowl (Sweet Lou) was missionized in the Saturday afternoon feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The $3,700 Fillies and Mares featured pace saw Sugar Bowl leave alertly from post 3 and lead at every station to win in 1:55 flat for driver Barrieau, trainer Jeff Holmes and owners Tommy Collings and Brian MacPhee of Mount Stewart. Rosetown Mary (Driven by Corey MacPherson) nabbed second ahead of Acefortyfour Dome (Jason Hughes).
Holmes had a training double on the card as Two Tone Terror (Paul Langille) captured the finale in 1:59.2.
Rock N Roll Cays (Tobago Cays, David Dowling) won the race 4 In Memory Of Jerome Campbell Pace in 1:58.2 during a Jennifer Doyle training double. The leading trainer at Red Shores Charlottetown for a second straight season, Doyle also visited the winner’s circle with Woodmere Heather M (Dowling) in 1:58.4.
Sensational Gal (Rollwithitharry, Barrieau) won the Race 5 MacPhee Memorial in 2:00.1 for trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner JD Racing Inc., of Cornwall.
Fight Song (Kadabra, Hughes) was the best in the $3,450 Open Trot with a 1:58.3 score by four-and-a-half lengths over New Legacy (Dowling) and Chasin Dreams (Marc Campbell). Ashley Gamester trains the winning trotter for owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge.
Marc Campbell had a driving triple on the day winning with The Lady Sheriff (1:58.3) for trainer Landon Campbell, Woodmere Rollily (1:56.4) for trainer Adam Merner and Windemere Saddy (1:58.1) from the Brent Campbell barn.
Prior to the card, Lucky Ticket won the non-wagering $3,200 All Star Cresting Prospect Trot Event in 2:07.2 for driver Myles Heffernan Sr., and owner-trainer William Folland of Summerside.
