Summerside, PE – Bugsy Maguire (Bettors Delight), under the command of Norris Rogers, wired the field to win the Friday night (June 17) harness racing feature at Red Shores Summerside in a dazzling 1:54.4.
Rogers sent the former Governor’s Plate champion to the front and carved fractions of 27.3, 55.4 and 1:25 flat before sprinting home in 29.4 to notch his 42nd lifetime victory.
Wade Sorrie conditions Bugsy MaGuire for owner Walter Simmons of Summerside, PE. Nogreatmischief (Walter Cheverie) was second while My Land (Damian MacLellan) was third. The 3-4-2 triactor paid $130.30.
Ken Murphy had four winners on the program. Murphy, who was named horseman of the year by the Prince County Horsemen’s Club, guided the Lester Stewart trainee Betterthanglamor to victory for owners Joanne and Marion Stewart, Albany, PE then came right back with Myambrose for owners Carl & Jason MacDougall, Ellerslie, PE in 2:00.4. The Yingyang, trained by Allan Gregory, and the Eric Doucette trained Rymar Jimbo completed the grand slam.
Damian MacLellan scored a driving triple on the program while Adam Merner recorded a driving double.
