Sunshine Boy (Sunshine Beach) snagged a second straight Preferred Pace in a speedy harness racing contest at Fraser Downs on Friday (Oct. 13).
The gelding was pocketed behind Itll Be Fine (Kelly Hoerdt) at the quarter in :26.2 but circled him to take the lead shortly after. Sunshine Boy put up middle panels of :55 and 1:23.1 on the engine for Scott Knight, and he was unchallenged turning for home.
Itll Be Fine emerged from second at the top of the lane, but Sunshine Boy held him to marginal gains and finished the mile a winner in 1:52.
Itll Be Fine was a length back at the finish in second. Waitin Ona River (Kevin Anderson) finished quickest and closed the top two down while completing the ticket.

Sunshine Boy has taken all three of his wins this season since moving to Jim Marinoās barn. He has made 16 starts in 2023, most of which have come at the Preferred level. The gelding, owned by Marino, J J J Stables of Prince George, and Paul Sanders of Surrey, has now won 16 of 58 lifetime starts and has earned $209,128.
Also on the card, Outlaw C My Shadow (Shadow Play) tallied his first victory since he returned to the races in July. The gelding went wire-to-wire in a performance reminiscent of the dominance he displayed when winning 11 consecutive Opens from November 2022 to April 2023. Trainer Constance Kolthammer steered the six-year-old in the 1:52.2 victory. Outlaw C My Shadow is now 22-for-95 lifetime with earnings of $185,692.
