Sicario raced on the rim through the first three quarters of a mile in the Wednesday Preferred 2&3 Handicap Trot at Grand River Raceway and rolled from sixth to victory.
Starting from post eight, Sicario was unable to find a pylon spot after floating out into the first turn. Reinsman Austin Sorrie opted to drive on and put the Holiday Road gelding on the march, and they improved from sixth at the quarter in :28.3 to second at the half in :58.4.
Sicario hit the top while passing three-quarters in 1:27.3 and continued his charge, creating a three-and-a-half-length cushion entering the lane. He strolled to the finish from there in 1:58.
Bastiano (Scott Coulter) cut the deficit to two and a quarter lengths at the finish as he earned the place position. Horse Trader (Jean Bernard Renaud) was third.
SICARIO REPLAY
Sicario has now won 26 of his 109 lifetime appearances and has earned $247,298. Richard Moreau trains the six-year-old-gelding for Pamela and John Hehn of Walkerton.
Leading driver Colin Kelly extended his margin with four victories on the day.
