Lit De Rose circled the field in the $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap on Friday at Woodbine Mohawk Park for her second top-class win of the season.
Louis-Philippe Roy, retrying the previous weekās tactics, settled the daughter of Leader Bayama into the trailing spot early in the six-horse group. Roy remained patient through the :26.3 first quarter mile and the :55.1 half and sent her to the outside behind the cover of So Much More (James MacDonald) while nearing three-quarters in 1:22.1.
Lit De Rose remained last as the field entered the stretch, but she gradually picked up ground and places as they sprinted for home. She turned on the afterburners at the eighth pole and flew by her foes to win while setting a new lifetime mark of 1:49.4. So Much More finished second, and Major Occasion A (Trevor Henry) rallied after trailing in the stretch.
