T C I (Cantab Hall) extended his harness racing winning streak to six and booked a trip to the Mohawk Million in doing so as he captured the $620,000 William Wellwood Memorial on Saturday (Aug. 26) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
He entered the first bend fourth, but Dave Miller kept him on the rim and waited for Masstercraft (Trevor Henry) to clear before urging him to the top. T C I grabbed control past the quarter in :27.2, cruised to the half in :56.3, and stayed calm to three-quarters in 1:25.4 while Amazing Catch (Ake Svanstedt) made progress first-over.
Amazing Catch fizzled out in mid-stretch, leaving only Mars Hill (Todd McCarthy) to chase the leader, and T C I outlasted the closing rival to win by a half-length in 1:54.3.
Amazing Catch proved third-best.
āHeās been racing phenomenally,ā said Miller post-race. āHis gait and that, itās kind of flawless. Heās been perfect so far.”
