Tells On A Roll (Tellitlikeitis) blew the doors off her harness racing opponents in the $36,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (Feb. 9) in her third straight win in the class.
The mare fired to an early lead from post six for Travis Cullen and put up a first quarter of :27.1. So Much More (James MacDonald), who recently received her third O’Brien Award, made a first-over advance and pressured the leader to the half in :55.2.
Tells On A Roll showed her the cold shoulder as they moved towards the final turn and pushed back out to a two-length edge as they hit three-quarters in 1:23.2. Tells On A Roll took full flight as she entered the stretch and separated by six lengths from the rest. She cruised to victory in the late stages with a final margin of five-and-a-half lengths and a time of 1:51.1.
The tough So Much More held onto second as Style For A Mile (Doug McNair) closed for show.
TELLS ON A ROLL REPLAY
Tells On A Roll is now undefeated through three starts this year, all at the Preferred level. The four-year-old, and Indiana Sires Stakes champion last season, moved to Ontario in November for trainer Jodie Cullen and owners Paul Sanders of Surrey and A1stable and Ron Cullen of Dundas.
Also on the card, Speaker Of Peace (Artspeak) swept the Snowshoe Series as the gelding captured the $41,000 final. The William McClure trainee, under heavy urging from Scott Young, held on over a group of closers by a half-length in 1:51.4. Wry (McNair) flew from off the pace and got up for second. Lets Go Jude (Jonathan Drury) was third.
SPEAKER OF PEACE REPLAY
Speaker Of Peace has now won five consecutive races and is eight-for-28 lifetime with $137,290 in earnings. McClure owns the four-year-old gelding.
James MacDonald was, once again, the card’s most successful driver with four wins.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will conclude its race week with an 11-race card on Saturday (Feb. 10). The program, headlined by a $32,000 Preferred-2, begins at 7:10 p.m. EST.
