White Tiger (Muscle Massive) would’ve reached a half-million dollars in earnings regardless of his rival’s late break in the Monday (Dec. 12) feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but the promotion to victory put an exclamation point on the harness racing achievement.
After the win, Woodbine Mohawk Park presented James MacDonald with a placard to commemorate racking up $10 million in earnings in one season. He became the first driver in 12 years to do so on the Dec. 9 card.
White Tiger cut the mile with James MacDonald at the lines, putting up panels of :27.4, :57.3, and 1:25.4. Sermon (Tyler Borth) emerged off cover coming down the lane and hunted down the leader as they came into deep stretch.
Sermon broke stride as he put his nose in front with meters to go, and despite his margin increasing, White Tiger remained alongside as they reached the line in 1:55.1.
The judges placed Sermon behind White Tiger as he was determined to have been off-stride and lapped-on at the finish. Locatelli (Chris Christoforou) also flew from the backfield and got up for third.
WHITE TIGER REPLAY
White Tiger’s win was his 24th lifetime in 142 career starts. The gelding has now earned $505,296 for The Stable’s White Tiger Group. Dominic Gladu trains the seven-year-old.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will host its next card on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 7:10 p.m. EST.
