Therealprincess (Source Of Pride) added another Atlantic Sires Stakes (AtSS) victory to her perfect season – now running through nine starts – in a commanding harness racing victory on Saturday (Aug. 27) at Northside Downs.
She made her way past Mystical Gal (Mark Pezzarello) from post four to secure control in a :28.2 first panel.
She completed the middle half with splits of :58 and 1:28 and motored five-and-a-quarter lengths clear in the final quarter to score in 1:57.
Mystical Gal proved second-best, holding second after travelling in the pocket. Ultimate Long Shot (Ryan Campbell) finished third.
THEREALPRINCESS REPLAY
Therealprincess pushed her bankroll into six-figure territory with the win. She has won each of her nine starts – all in stakes competition – this season and is 14-for-21 lifetime. Eddy Doucette trains the filly and co-owns her with breeder Blaine Thibeau, Gordon Macleod, and Grant Mann. All reside in Kensington.
Boo Yaya (Stonebridge Terror, Redmond Doucet) took the other AtSS division for sophomore pacing fillies. She fought to the front in the back half and resisted Tobins Diva (Pezzarello) down the stretch to take the victory in 1:59.2. Cougar On A Terr (Donald Gillis Jr.) was 17 lengths back at the quarter after an early break but recovered to finish third by a length.
BOO YAYA REPLAY
Robert MacLeod trains Boo Yaya, a six-time winner in 20 career starts. She has now earned $53,053 for owners Hugh Maceachern of Inverness and Ali Macheachern of Truro.
The three-year-old pacing fillies will visit Inverness Raceway for the final preliminary AtSS leg on Sep. 18 before the Oct. 9 Atlantic Breeders Crown.
Northside Downs continues action on Saturday, Sep. 3.
