Dontpokethedragon (Custard The Dragon) won his third Preferred in his last four starts with another victory in the top harness racing class at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday (Oct. 25).

Dontpokethedragon in prior win

The gelding took off from post two for Travis Cullen and emerged on top after a three-pronged speed duel in a :27 first quarter. Lawless Shadow (Tyler Moore), who beat him last week, slid in behind him and stalked from the pocket through middle fractions of :56 and 1:24.2.

Dontpokethedragon looked to slip away on the backstretch, but Lawless Shadow and the first-up Cheddar Bay (J. Bradley Harris) were still in range as they turned for home.  Both began to charge at the top of the stretch, but neither was able to slay Dontpokethedragon, and he reached home with a half-length to spare over Lawless Shadow in 1:53.4.

Lawless Shadow finished second. Wilcat Rocky (Brett MacDonald) got up for third with a late kick.

DONTPOKETHEDRAGON REPLAY

Dontpokethedragon has won seven of his 31 starts on the season and has made the exactor in five consecutive starts. The six-year-old is now 33-for-118 lifetime and has earned $324,740. Jodie Cullen trains the gelding for Paul Sanders of Surrey, J J J Stables of Prince George, and Travis Cullen of Dundas.

Jodie Cullen tripled as a trainer on the night. She also scored victories with Yourtheone (Shanghai Phil, Travis Cullen, 1:53.3) and Restive Spirit (Mcwicked, Ed Hensley, 1:58.2).

Flamboro Downs will continue racing on Thusday, Oct. 26 at 6:35 p.m. EDT.
