Dontpokethedragon (Custard The Dragon) won his third Preferred in his last four starts with another victory in the top harness racing class at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday (Oct. 25).
The gelding took off from post two for Travis Cullen and emerged on top after a three-pronged speed duel in a :27 first quarter. Lawless Shadow (Tyler Moore), who beat him last week, slid in behind him and stalked from the pocket through middle fractions of :56 and 1:24.2.
Dontpokethedragon looked to slip away on the backstretch, but Lawless Shadow and the first-up Cheddar Bay (J. Bradley Harris) were still in range as they turned for home.Ā Both began to charge at the top of the stretch, but neither was able to slay Dontpokethedragon, and he reached home with a half-length to spare over Lawless Shadow in 1:53.4.
Lawless Shadow finished second. Wilcat Rocky (Brett MacDonald) got up for third with a late kick.
