P L Oliver (Sportswriter) won for the third time in his past four harness racing starts as he captured the conditioned feature pace at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday (Nov. 27).
Travis Henry hustled the gelding forward from the pylons to protect position going into the first turn, and the pair led to the quarter in :27.2 and half in :57.3. Better Be Gouda (Oisin Quill) brought pressure going to three-quarters in 1:26.1 and around the final turn. Coligny Hanover (Darryl Thiessen) had his shot up the passing lane in the stretch, and Better Be Gouda pressed on late, but P L Oliver was strong on the lead and won by a half-length in 1:55.4. Coligny Hanover was second, and Better Be Gouda held on for third.
