Monalishi (Green Manalishi S) scored her third straight harness racing victory in the $150,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Mid-Season Final for rookie trotting fillies on Monday (Aug. 5) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
After leaving in her past two Gold wins, the filly tucked into the five-hole at the behest of Jody Jamieson at the quarter in :27.2. Monalishi led a trailing pack of five as the top four battled down the backstretch, and the filly came to the outside as she caught the group approaching the half in :57.
Monalishi trekked uncovered around the final turn and stepped around Foxy Amee (Paul MacDonell) as they passed three-quarters in 1:25.3. She was never challenged again and cruised to victory in 1:54.2.
Foxy Amee stuck with her and was a clear second. Medley Seelster (Bob McClure), who led early, closed from fifth to third in the stretch.
Jamieson received his commemorative placard for reaching $150 million in career earnings in the winner’s circle. He accomplished the feat on Saturday..
