It took him six attempts to qualify, but Southwind Russian (Tactical Landing) has now won three straight after another harness racing victory at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (May 23).
He slotted into the pocket of leading favourite Show Me The Magic (Guy Gagnon) until Stephane Pouliot pulled him off the rail nearing three-quarters. Show Me The Magic and Southwind Russian battled around the last turn, and Southwind Russian dispatched him at the top of the stretch before going on to win by two-and-a-half lengths in 1:57.2. Ciel Blue (Stephane Brosseau) fired down the lane to take second. Show Me The Magic secured the show cheque.
