Yoda Queen (All Bets Off) swept the Pop-Up Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park and made it three straight harness racing victories in a lifetime-best effort on Thursday (Aug. 22).
James MacDonald pointed the mare to the front from post six and rattled of :27.1, :56.2, and 1:25 splits. Cheesy Smile (Bob McClure) sustained a first-over bid around the turn and hounded the leader down the stretch, but Yoda Queen proved untouchable as she paced home to a two-length victory in 1:52.1. Cheesy Smile held onto second with Carsons Gouda (Trevor Henry) third.
YODA QUEEN REPLAY
Yoda Queenās win was her 15th lifetime for owner Jamie Doig of Petrolia. Julie Walker tarins the mare, a Prospect Series champion last year. The four-year-old has earned $117,548 in 40 career starts.
MacDonald completed a driving quadruple in that race, the nightcap.
The next card at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, Aug. 23 will feature the Casual Breeze, the fourth Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg for three-year-old pacing fillies, and eliminations for the Maple Leaf Trot. First post is set for 7:10 p.m. EDT.
