After winning his $65,000 harness racing division of the Quebec Championship Finals last week, Kingston Panic (Sportswriter) came right back to the Hippodrome 3R Sunday (Sept. 17) afternoon and notched his third straight win.
Competing in the 7th race pace, it was Spectrum Seelster (Pascal Berube) that cut the mile from the start with Maximus GB (Danny Darveau) sitting the pocket trip as they sped by the first quarter in :28.1 and the half mile in :57.4.
Then it was Kingston Panic and driver Robert Shepherd, the wagering favorite, moving first-over and pressuring Spectrum Seelster to the three-quarters in 1:26.3. But Spectrum Seelster was not giving up and kept Kingston Panic parked out around the final turn.
It was not until deep stretch that Kingston Panic was able to pass by Spectrum Seelster to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.1. Maximus GB was third.
