CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – There is no denying Three Truths is hot and he showed it as he defeated the $2,650 preferred harness racing class Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Kenny Arsenault was in the bike for the winning score of 1:56.3 off a two-hole ride for his eighth straight top three finish. Second went to pacesetter Keep Coming (Driven by David Dowling) while Euchred (Adam Merner) was third. Paul Doyle trains Three Truths for owners Jason Rice of Kensington and Darren Doyle of Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Maritime Champion Bettim Jackie captured the $2,350 Fillies and Mares Open pace for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Jeff Lilley stopping the clock in 1:56.2. Barrieau hit the winner's circle earlier on the program winning a $3,000 elimination of the Maritime Breeder's stake for two-year-old trotters with Mile Hill Willie from his own stable. Time of the mile was 2:03.3 as Oceanview Hal (Henry Smallwood) was second, Dusty Lane Titan (Marc Campbell) recovered from a break to finish third and Jareds Courage (Mark Bradley) was fourth to advance to the final.
Getti Messi won the other $3,000 split for rookie trotters in a mile time of 2:04.4 for driver Corey MacPherson and owner-trainer Blayne White of Belle River, P.E.I. Race favourite Little Miss Winnie (Arsenault) cut the fractions to finish second with Windemerebarrister (Walter Cheverie) finishing third and Dusty Lane Mavis finishing fourth to make the Maritime Breeder's final.
Driver Jason Hughes had three wins on the program winning with Beach Cloud in 2:03.1 and Jeb in a 31-1 upset in 1:57.1, both from his own stable as well as a front end score with Winter Blast in 1:57.1 for trainer Jennifer Doyle of Earnescliffe, P.E.I.
