Thunder Alley (Mystery Chase) overcame a completely parked out trip to take the Truro Raceway Winners-Over Pace on Friday (Jul. 1) in a powerful harness racing effort.
The gelding found himself hung out into the first turn as Good Friday Three (Jeff Ellis) pressed on to take the lead. With no inside room in sight, Andrew Campbell kept Thunder Alley first-over through :28.2, :58, and 1:27 fractions.
Thunder Alley chiseled away and finally overwhelmed the leader on the final turn. He paced unwaveringly to the wire to win by two lengths in 1:57.
Well Did (Kenneth Parker) circled all but one from last to finish second. Dont Ask Logan (Todd Trites) was third. The winner rewarded backers with a $7 return.
THUNDER ALLEY REPLAY
It was Thunder Alleyās first top-class win of the season at Truro. He was also parked the mile in the prior weekās edition but was unable to see it through on that occasion. Also on the card, two-year-old Brookdale Miki (Always B Miki) broke his maiden in his second lifetime start with a 1:59.2 clocking. Bernard McCallum trains and drives the gelding, a $17,000 Harrisburg purchase, for Douglas E. and Douglas R. Polley of Amherst.
Campbell came away with three wins in the day’s nine races.
