Thunder Alley (Mystery Chase) landed a big strike on his harness racing opponents in the Northside Downs Winners-Over on Saturday (May 25).

The gelding, undefeated on the season, quickly reached the front for John Kennedy and brought the field to the midway point with fractions of :29.1 and 1:01.1. David Lloyd George (Keigan Madden) blinked first from fourth, pulling out on the third turn and traveling first-up down the backstretch.

Thunder Alley stopped his advance at three-quarter in 1:32.1 and held him at arm’s length until taking flight at the top of the lane. The leader thundered down the stretch and extended his margin to five lengths in the 2:01.1 victory.

David Lloyd George held second in a stretch duel with Runaway Mystery (Harold Leblanc), who finished third.

THUNDER ALLEY REPLAY

Thunder Alley is now three-for-three this year and has risen in class in two straight starts. The gelding has 27 wins and $86,272 to his name in 143 career starts. Heather Hawkins trains the eight-year-old for Terri Morrison of Marion Bridge, Irwin Claener of New Waterford, Kirk Macrae of Ben Eoin, and Angus Maceachern of Howie Centre.

It was one of three wins on the nine-race program for Kennedy and Hawkins. They also teamed up for victories with Beers On Me (Source Of Pride, 2:02.2) and Delightful Feeling (Bettors Delight, 2:03.2).

Racing will continue at Northside Downs on Saturday, Jun. 1.
