CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The jump from three-year-old stakes to aged company is never easy, but Tobins Brownie (Stonebridge Terror) has been figuring it out this harness racing season and looks for another victory in the Thursday evening (Nov. 10) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Capital oval has eight-dashes scheduled for a 6:30 P.M. opening post time with race 7 on the night the Lowther Refrigeration Ltd., pace Fillies and Mares Preferred for a $3,200 purse.
Tobins Brownie is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post 3 for trainer-driver David Dowling and owners Brittany Watts, Sandra Weeks and Erroll Burgoyne of Springvale. The four-year-old mare had one of the greatest three-year-old seasons in Atlantic Canadian Harness Racing History during 2021 winning half of her races and taking a record of 1:53.4 over Charlottetown. The pacer made the jump to aged competition this season and has taken on the best mares on the Eastern Seaboard with grace. Her latest start was a second to Acefortyfourdome (Up The Credit) while she was on front for victory the start previous in 1:55. Acefortyfourdome has post 5 Thursday for driver Jason Hughes.
Dreamfair Zenfire (Sunfire Blue Chip) is another top contender with post 4 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell as the track record holding mare has her best draw in the past two weeks.
Also in the field are Ladylike (Shadow Play, To be driven by Corey MacPherson), Plain Jane (Shadow Play, Ken Murphy) and Ubettimagoodone (Image Of Dawn, Dale Spence).
The Post Time Picks like Dreamfair Zenfire to win.
“Dreamfair Zenfire has put together another incredible year with nine victories and a record of 1:53.2. Moves to the middle and Campbell will be pressing the pace so she could reach double digits in the win column.”
Rookie driver Kyle Desroche makes his trotting debut in the race 6 Open Trot for a $2,800 purse. Desroche drives Summit City Nate (Justice Hall) from post 3 for his father, trainer Phil Desroche and owner Leah Ann Moyer of Summerside. Making his second lifetime start in the race bike, the driver is the younger brother of Ontario Catch Driver Ryan Desroche. Freddie (Campbell) is the favourite off the rail in the Open Trot.
