Tobins Profit (Stonebridge Terror) made a successful harness racing debut on Friday (Jun. 24) at Truro Raceway.
Daniel Romo opted for a delayed move to the front from post one with the gelding and allowed two horses by going into the first turn. He then sent Tobins Profit to the top on the backstretch, and they were there just past the quarter in :30.2.
Brookdale Miki (Always B Miki, Bernard McCallum) reignited the speed duel as they hit the half in 1:00.2, going first-over and toe-to-toe with the leader. The pair matched strides down the backstretch and hit the three-quarter mile marker together in 1:30.4. Tobins Profit began to edge away as the field entered the last turn and pulled away to a one-and-three-quarter-length victory in 2:00.
Brookdale Miki was a quarter-length clear of Brookdale Johnny (Rockin In Heaven, Ernest Laffin) for place. The win payoff was $5.40.

Romo also trains Tobins Profit, a $25,000 Atlantic Classic sale purchase by Kevin Dorey of Middle Sackville, Frank Brundle of East Garafraxa, and Robert Sumarah of Halifax. The gelding is out of Nuclear High mare Southern Blue.
Bettim Again (Malicious) won the dayās featured Winners Over pace. Driver Todd Trites oversaw a wire-to-wire win in 1:56.2. Risin Horizon (Darrin Crowe) finished second over Thunder Alley (Andrew Campbell), who tired after a parked-out mile.
BETTIM AGAIN REPLAY
Bettim Again has won 13 of his 42 career starts and earned $92,297. George Rennison conditions the homebred for Jeff Lilley, who co-owns with fellow Charlottetown resident D. Blair Maclauchlan and Ian Macdonald of Lower Sackville.
Trites was the dayās top driver with a triple.
