CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – In a harness racing rematch of the recent Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series Final, Dreamfair Zenfire (Sunfire Blue Chip) and Acefortyfour Dome (Up The Credit) are set to battle again Thursday evening (Oct. 27) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 12-dash card being presented at 6 P.M. with the Fillies and Mares Preferred pace lining up in race 11 for a $3,200 purse. Acefortyfour Dome was the victor in last week’s rich final at Red Shores Summerside and now the mares will line up on the outside of the starting gate to settle the score.
Marc Campbell trains and drives post 5 starter Dreamfair Zenfire while Acefortyfour Dome has the outside post 6 for trainer-driver Jason Hughes and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge.
Dreamfair Zenfire saw her four-race win streak extinguished last week as the 1-9 favourite as her pocket sitting foe came up for the win in 1:54.2 at 5-1 odds. The additional Thursday foes include Ill Tell Me Ma (Mark Bradley) from post 1, post 2 starter Ladylike (Corey MacPherson), Tobins Brownie (David Dowling) from post 3 and Plain Jane (Adam Merner) with post 4.
The Post Time Picks side with Dreamfair Zenfire to start a fresh win streak.
“Dreamfair Zenfire led for a long way at Red Shores Summerside before getting collared at the very end. Just a reminder she does have 26 wins over the past two seasons so expect her to rebound with a victory.”
Race 2 is a Grassroots division of the Island Oceans
Series with Striking Pride (Striking Lindsey) the top choice in the $3,500 contest. Campbell drives the mare for trainer Paul Morrison, who co-owns with Jillian Furness and John Breau. Her main rivals are Hallofaride (John Davidson) and Incredible Two (Kenny Arsenault).
Mile Hill Dream (Armbro Barrister) is favoured in the All Star Cresting Prospect Trot Series in race 4 for trainer Morrison, owner Breau and driver Merner. The $3,200 class will see a field of five.
