Jj Scarlett romped in her Atlantic Sires Stakes A contest for two-year-old harness racing filly pacers on Sunday at Inverness Raceway and broke the track record by more than a second in doing so.
She rocketed away from post two, easily beating her five rivals into the first turn. Driver Donald Gillis Jr. guided her to :29.3, :58.4 and 1:27.4 fractions on the front end, and the fillyās victory was never in doubt in the final quarter. She soared home and crossed the finish line in a record time of 1:57.1. Therealprincess (Corey Macpherson) chased the leader but never threatened as she finished second. Third-place finisher Tobins Diva (Gilles Barrieau) was the only other rival in the vicinity. The 1:57.1 clocking lowered the 1:58.2 mile paced by Therealdeal in August 2018.
JJ SCARLETT REPLAY
Jj Scarlett, a daughter of Tobago Cays (PE), extended her winning streak to four. That spell accounts for all career wins in her six starts to take. Walter Walker trains the filly for local Inverness owner Wwggmacinnismackinnon Stable.
Boo Yaya led at every call in the other AtSS contest, taking the field through :29.1, 1:00.2, and 1:31.3 splits before closing out the score in 2:00.2 for driver Redmond Doucet. Woodmere Jazz (Barrieau) was a length behind in second; Cougar On A Terr (Gillis) took show. The Stonebridge Terror (PE)Ā offspring has won three of seven lifetime starts for trainer Robert Mac Leod and owners Hugh Maceachern of Inverness and Ali Maceachern of Truro.
BOO YAYA REPLAY
Boo Yaya tops the two-year-old pacing filly AtSS standings with 22 points. Woodmere Jazz remains second with 19 points over Jj Scarlettās 17. The rookies visit North Sydney on Sep. 25 for their divisionās final round. Point totals determine which horses are eligible for the Atlantic Breeders Crown.
