Sandra Perreault took her first harness racing victory since 2021 on Monday (Jun. 12) at Woodbine Mohawk Park as her gelding Artistic Pick (Artistic Fella) won the seventh race.
After taking an early lead, he travelled in the pocket behind Royal Renegade (Louis-Philippe Roy) until popping out to pounce in the stretch. He surged by Royal Renegade and outlasted the charge of Mister J R (Trevor Henry) to win in a new lifetime best of 1:53.2.
ARTISTIC PICK REPLAY
Perreault trains Artistic Pick and co-owns the gelding with Michel Gaudreault of Lorraine. Perreault had not been a trainer of record since her two starts with Uber Hanover in 2022. She has seven wins in 65 lifetime starts and is one-for-11 with Artistic Pick this season. The nine-year-old gelding has won 21 of 211 career starts and has earned $216,791.
Woodbine Mohawk Park continues racing on Tuesday, Jun. 13 with the two Ontario Sires Stakes Gold divisions for three-year-old trotting fillies that were rescheduled from Thursday. Racing will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
