Treasured Tee recaptured the top class crown at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday as the harness racing stallion scored in the $34,000 Preferred Trot.
Doug McNair fired him out to the lead from post six going into the first turn, but Perfetto pressed on from the two-path and took command just past the quarter mile pole in :27.2. Action continued going toward the half in :57.1 as Zig Zag (Sylvain Filion) slid to the outside and hiked past foes.
Perfetto and Zig Zag rounded the far turn eye-to-eye as Treasured Tee remained patient in the pocket. Pikachu Hanover (Trevor Henry) fanned three-wide entering the lane and hooked wheels with Zig Zag, turning the contest into a two-horse race. Treasured Tee seized a clear path to victory and blew by Perfetto, who left the pylons at headstretch, to win by three and a half lengths in 1:54.
Perfetto finished second; Pikachu Hanover recovered for show.
TREASURED TEE REPLAY
Treasured Tee, who paid $8.20, improved his lifetime record to 14-for-67 in the win. The Richard Moreau-trained six-year-old son of Yankee Glide has now earned $234,871. Brad Grant of Milton owns the horse.
James MacDonald continued his charge through the driversā standings with another driving grand slam. The reinsman is now six wins behind leader Sylvain Filion and is tied for second with McNair on 52 wins.
