The trotters will be in the harness racing limelight at the Hippodrome 3R Friday afternoon (July 28) with more than half (7) of the 12 races on the program devoted to the high stepping gait.

Five of the trotting events are stakes races for two and three-year-olds. The two-year-olds were rained out of their opening round of the Future Stars Series last Friday and the two divisions were moved to this Friday. This is the first time that most of the “babies” will be competing in a pari-mutuel event.

The two-year-old trotting fillies are first on the card in the $10,000 4th race. The race favorite is Kenogami Queen (Wheeling N Dealin) from post four for driver Stephane Brosseau. She was a strong third place finisher in an overnite event at H3R.

The two-year-old trotting colts and gelding are featured in the $10,000 11th race where nine foes will battle it out. The early favorite is the entry of Rocket Men (Muscle Mass) from post seven with Brosseau in the bike and Wild Dream Men (Kadabra) goes from post nine for driver-trainer Guy Gagnon.

The three-year-olds get underway in the $10,000 3rd race with the second round of the Breeders Trophy Series for the trotting fillies.

Last week’s opening round winner, Kenogami Courage, has skipped racing this week, which leaves a wide-open field featuring Don’t Treat Me Bad (Resolve), who was second last week for driver Jocelyn Gendron. Also entered is Duende (Lookslikeachpndale), who two starts back was a 2:02.2 winner at Rideau Carleton.

The colts will battle in two $7,500 divisions of the Breeders Trophy Series starting in the 7th race where BBC Sportsboy (Wheeling N Dealin) won his opening round division of the series in 2:01.2 for driver-trainer Marc Belanger.

The 9th race is the second division and features Kinnder Motown (Muscle Mass), who has won four of his six starts already this season for driver Robert Shepherd, the fastest a lifetime mark of 1:57.4.

Post time for the Friday twilight race card begins at 4:00 pm. For a free race program, visit here.
