The harness racing trotting two- and three-year-olds head to Inverness Raceway on Wednesday (Aug. 4) for their third Atlantic Sires Stakes (ATSS) event.

A total of 11 trotting two-year-olds will compete in two divisions, each going for a purse of $8,260.

The first division is Race 2, which will have five horses align behind the gate. Moonshine Monday (in line to Myles Heffernan Sr.) is the program favourite. Cadillac (Clare MacDonald) and Majian Raptor (J. Ripley) are the other program choices.

Race 4 has Up Helly Aa, another Clare MacDonald trainee, picked as the program favourite along with other contenders Mr Miller (Corey MacPherson) and Headline Howie (Mike Mcquigan).

Moonshine Monday and Up Helly Aa are the current point leaders in the series.

Race 6 will see the trotting three-year-olds go for a purse of $14,960. Mr Finlay Ridge (Clare MacDonald) and Dusty Lane Milo (Adam Merner) are the top-two point leaders and are the respective program favourites. Rich Day Dreams (Kenny Arsenault) is the third choice.

Points accumulated in each ATSS trot event goes towards earning entry into the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships.

This year, Red Shores Charlottetown will host the premier harness racing event. The Weekend of Champions will take place Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 and will include the Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale Friday, Oct. 8.

Post time at Inverness Raceway is 7 p.m. (ADT).
